Apparently, my family wants to know my spaghetti sauce recipe from all the rave reviews from my husband at the reunion. It's not some gourmet secret, just a simple recipe that I got from a ward adult dinner. My family loves it and in fact, we had it tonight for father's day because it's Will's favorite, obviously. It has an interesting ingredient that I think makes it unique. Anyway, knock yourselves out.......

2-3 T. extra virgin olive oil
1 med. onion, chopped
2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
1- 1 & 1/2 lbs. ground beef
salt/pepper to taste
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 - 1 & 1/2 cans tomato sauce
1 & 1/2 T. Italian seasoning
1/4 c. brown sugar

On medium heat, pour olive oil in skillet. Add onion and cook until transparent (2-3 min.). Add garlic, cook 2-3 min. more. Add ground beef and salt/pepper and cook until well done. Drain fat. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and Italian seasoning. Heat to boil, lower heat, cover and simmer 30 min. to 1 hour (the longer, the better). Remove from heat and right before serving, add brown sugar. Stir sauce well to dissolve sugar. Serves 5-6.

This makes a pretty thick sauce. It's how we like it, but if you like yours more saucy, you can add more tomato sauce or water. Sometimes I'll just "rinse" out the tomato sauce cans and add the water from them. And the longer you cook it, the thicker it gets, so you might want to add more liquids anyway. It usually serves our family with about 1 serving left. That kinda gives you an idea of how much it makes. FYI....it's not a super "sweet" sauce because of the brown sugar, it just brings out the tomato flavor more. Let me know if you try it and like it! :o)
